Oldest known image of Chahk found in the Holmul region

: Monumental carving of Chahk unearthed atop a buried pyramid within Str. 1 mound at Dos Aguadas during the 2012 season of by the Holmul Archaeological Project. It faces south. It stands between the sites aguada and the solar ritual plaza (E-Group). A radiocarbon sample of charcoal from the carved stucco returned a 40 +/-30 BC date.
